Awesome start

Thank you all so much for the wonderful running start that my business has had! I far exceeded my goal and every time I sew a new sling I remember how much I love's making them. It may sound silly but I enjoy thinking of the babies that will be held in them and the bonding that they will create.

I mentioned on my Facebook that I will occasionally be coming out with specialty slings. The final result is beautiful but I must be honest and say they are a pain to make. Literally a pain. They require a lot more pins and, unfortunately, I don't do well with sharp things. It's sad but it's true. Cheese knives, kitchen knives, scissors, and pins. They just don't like me!! But, despite all the pin pricks and extra cutting and sewing involved, I'm very satisfied with the way that they function and look.

I have also finalized the design for the Ultimate Bib. When my little man starts getting messy with food I'm going to have to make and keep one for myself! I think that the final product is pretty awesome and I hope that you agree too. It's a lot of work to put together but the end result has been worth it. It's cute, functional, and (my favorite part) machine washable. I had bibs with my first son that I had to hand wash in the sink. Yuck!

The breast pads are working well though I have a new idea coming up that I think you will like. Can you say "more bamboo?" They are already super absorbent and my "tester" loves that they give her a bit of shape but she doesn't end up with "targets" under her shirt. The current pads are great but I think that you will like some of the options/changes that will come in the future.

My next project includes something a little less practical and a little more fun. Things that will make excellent gifts for new moms. You can check my WIP Album for the fabric involved in that.

So tell your friends and stay tuned to my fan page because I'm constantly updating and adding things.

Introduction

So this is my first official blog entry.
I'll start with an introduction. I'm Tessa and I sewed in my past. When I got married and moved out of my parents' home, my mother gave me her old sewing machine. I used it a couple times to mend some clothes and then I put it away. I worked and focused on my career and my husband. A few years later I gave birth to a wonderful little boy. I entered in to a new phase in my life. I focused all my time and energy on my little boy and husband. I got the opportunity to retire from my current business in finances and be a full time SAHM. It was wonderful! I became passionate about natural mothering and birth and breastfeeding.

A few months ago I had my second adorable son. I made plans during pregnancy to pull out my old sewing machine to make myself some breast pads (I really wasn't looking forward to those stinky, expensive, disposable ones again). I started talking to my friend and ideas just started compounding. It actually started with functional, comfortable, and sturdy everyday ring slings so Moms could give their babies the closeness and connection they need. Over the last month or so we discussed everything from bibs to blankies to breast pads.

I'm very excited about the next few months. I plan to spend a bit of time each week sewing some things that I think are essential to a new mom and some things that are just plain adorable.

Current project plan: cow blankets for my sons. Minky on one side and satin on the other. C is already super excited for his. Maybe I'll even monogram them! Will post pictures when I'm done.

My ring slings are going to be up for sale soon on Pampered Bumz.
